Angela emailed me:
“I’m having a problem with thistle growing on my leach field. They came up two years ago and we sprayed and mowed them down. Last summer there was no thistle at all, but this summer they’re back and they’re thick!
Do you know of anyone else who is having a problem with thistle? Do you have any suggestions on who I can call to help me with this?”
My Uncle, if I remember correctly, told me in the past, that cutting the heads of thistle is very helpful for getting rid of them since some varieties have a two year cycle, one that grows flat and low to the ground, the next year grows vertically with a flower and by cutting the flower/vertical stem, it will kill the plant. I know that I spend lots of time evey year trying to get rid of them. Anyone with some great ideas?
